Tuning the guitar is vital to sounding good .The open strings of a guitar from the thickest to thinnest are

as follows:

 • E - the thickest or lowest sounding

string is the 6th string

• A - is the 5th • D - is the 4th • G - is the 3rd • B - is the 2nd

• E - the thinnest or highest is the 1st

Using a guitar tuner

You can use a electronic guitar tuner or a guitar tuner software for PC. I am using a software to tune

guitar, showing some picture to make it more clear.

Using a tuner

1.Tuning the 6th string the E

2.Tuning the A 5th string

3. Tuning the 4th String D

4.Tuning G-3rd string

5.Tuning B-2nd string

6.Tuning E-1st string

Tune your guitar manually

I recommend getting an electronic tuner to tune your guitar more accurately. You should know at least one method to tune your guitar manually from a reference pitch(or tone). I am using Fifth fret method here.

This lesson will give you the way to tune guitar manually.

1.Make sure your sixth string is in tune ( use reference pitch) .

2.Play the sixth string, fifth fret (A), then tune your open fifth string

(A) until it they sound the same.

3.Play the fifth string, fifth fret (D), then tune your open fourth

string (D) until they sound the same.

4.Play the fourth string, fifth fret (G), then tune your open third

string (G) until they sound the same.

5.Play the third string, fourth fret (B), then tune your open second

string (B) until they sound the same.

6.Play the second string, fifth fret (E), then tune your open first

string (E) until they sound the same.
